Treglyn Farm Cootages is a group of privately owned and run self catering holiday cottages. Situated in a central location, the cottages are homely and comfortable, located in the peaceful countryside of St Minver, yet only minutes away from Polzeath, Rock, Wadebridge and Padstow. Perfectly situated to explore the whole of Cornwall,
Rock:
The town of Rock is located across the Camel estuary from the fishing port of Padstow. For somewhere so sandy Rock might not seem like the most appropriate name. However, it comes from the local quarry where the rocks were used as ballast by sailing ships which had unloaded their cargo across the river.
A village shop stocked with a superb selection of fine wines and cheeses and there is a great fish and chip takeaway. Occasionally referred to as 'Chelsea-on-Sea', Rock is reputed to be the home of more millionaires than anywhere else in Cornwall with exclusive villas and apartments discretely hidden among the trees.
Polzeath:
Tucked away behind a headland off the Camel River Estuary is Polzeath, a beautiful lesser-known surfing village and beach. Under 2 miles from the affluent village of Rock, this secluded spot is a great choice for a couple’s break away from the crowds and for those that would like to learn how to surf. With the sandy neighbouring beach of Daymer Bay less than 1 mile away, there’s little cause for you to venture all that far from Polzeath during your stay. Views of the Atlantic Ocean can be enjoyed all around the village, as well as of the Doom Bar and the estuary of the beloved Camel River.
Daymer Bay:
A plum location, Daymer Bay is the quintessential Cornish holiday destination on the North Cornwall coast, which families have been enjoying for generations. Nestled on the protected Camel Estuary, this gently shelving sandy beach was voted one of the best beaches in the world and is popular for its safe bathing waters and sunbathing. Daymer is at once peaceful, exhilarating and magnificent, with wide, open spaces in which to be at one with nature.
Padstow:
Padstow is a fine example of a Cornish-fishing port surrounded by beautiful bays and glorious sandy beaches, at the head of the Camel River in North Cornwall. Thanks to the bevy of celebrity chefs who have set up shop here, including Rick Stein, this pretty little harbour town has become renowned as a foodie destination and the county’s most cosmopolitan corner. Fine dining restaurants and boutiques sit alongside Padstow's heavenly jumble of traditional pubs and pasty shops, and even in the depths of winter, this chic town is alive with events, festivals and things to do in Padstow.
Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Padstow offers an abundance of scenic walks, particularly along the South West Coast Path. It is also the start and end point for the Camel Trail and a fantastic base for water sports with seven golden beaches within a five-minute drive.
